Eric needs your help to fight his Rare Illness
Donation protected
Hi Friends,
We are asking for your help for our friend, Karen McBrides son, Eric McBride. They received the results yesterday from his kidney biopsy.
Unfortunately it was not good news.
The dr said that Eric is very sick with a very serious, very rare, uncommon autoimmune disease. It is called
Granulomatosis with polyangiitis .
What they thought was pneumonia is not, it is this disease in his lungs that is causing damage. It already damaged his kidneys. It is an inflammation to his blood vessels, especially in his respiratory track.
This disease is moving fast so they need to start treating it aggressively.
They will be treating it with a medication called
Rituxan. It is VERY expensive at $30,000 each treatment. Their insurance company will cover 70%, and they responsible for the other 30%, which will be approximately $9,000 a week. The first round is 1 x a week for 4 wks. So approximately $36,000 a month.
He starts his first treatment tomorrow at 9am. It is done by an IV infusion for 4 hours. He will be having this done once a week for 4 wks.
He is also on a very high dose of steroids. They said in a normal sick person a high dose of steroids is 7mg, Eric is on 60mg dose daily.
Eric is fighting a battle and is unable to work during this treatment. If you could please help us with a donation, we would really appreciate.
