Wheelchair Van For Sean

My paternal Grandson Sean was born on 7-9-07. He was not breathing and had a blood sugar of 10. It was discovered that he had suffered a stroke in utero. As a result of the stroke, Sean has Cerebral Palsy, is legally blind and has a serious seizure disorder. Thankfully, due to the medicines he is on, Sean's 30-50 minute seizures have mostly been under control.

Sean is normally a very happy boy and even with his limited vocabulary is quite a clown and he knows it. His favorite thing is listening to his music. Since he was an infant he has loved pop classical, especially Il Divo. They have been our magic since he was an infant and almost always is soothed when they are playing. He also likes Josh Groban, Celine Dion and the soundtracks to The Lord of the Rings and Star Wars. He loves playing with his toys which are usually infant/young toddler toys. He loves his learning toys that play music.

This year Sean has grown quite a bit. He is now 70lbs and over 4 ft tall. I currently transfer Sean from his chair into his car seat and stow the wheelchair in the rear of the van we have. Lifting him in and out of his car seat is getting to be more of a challenge.  In my life I have already had 2 back injuries and a back surgery. My fear is that eventually my back will give out and I will be unable to care for Sean.  He has specialist appointments almost 2 hours away and therapy sessions 3 days a week. 30 min away. Now a wheel chair van has become a necessity.

I have had Sean in my custody since he was 6 weeks old and adopted him when he was 3 1/2.

Thank you so much for your interest in Sean and your desire to help him. God Bless you all. Lisa and Sean Vinson
