Hi'iakas Medical Fund

My name is Ikaika Keawekane. I am making this account on my wifes behalf, Hiiaka Keawekane. She is a hardworking, loving, ambitious and the most honest person I know. We are recently married and have three beautiful children Jerimyah (5), Hoakalei (2), and Haumanu (1).

In late March my wife had realized she was late (meaning her period), and we assumed she was pregnant but as the month of April began she started to bleed. We thought it was normal but the bleeding didnt stop and it was becoming excessive. As she woke up on a Monday morning in a pool of blood, we decided a doctors visit was extreemly necesssary. I took her to the emergency room where she was held for several hours. The doctors did ultrasounds, MRI's and blood work. By this time my wife and I were worried. The doctors couldnt give us a straight answer and had requested my wife to return for a Biopsy the following day, so we did. We waited for the results to find out on April 29th 2016 that my wife was diagnosed with Stage 1A Ovarian Cancer.  Although her condition is still in its early stages, my job had denied adding my wife and my 2 stepdaughters on too my medical plan until late november. We have just recieved our first medical bill for her E.R. visit and we are no where near the money needed to pay for it, let alone the surgery that she needs to fly off island to get this following week. As we prepare for months of surgey and recovery, this forces my wife to no longer be able to work leaving us in dire need of financial assistance for the long road ahead. My wife leaves for surgery next week wednesday May 25, 2016 and will be away for 4-6 weeks for recovery willing things go smoothly. I will remain on Maui to continue to work. My family and I are truly grateful for any and all support given for my wife, whether it be verbal or financial. The more love, the better she feels and her spirit will be positive. Mahalo for your time!
