Nepal Annapurna 2020 with Global Action

Donation protected
This December, myself and a group of friends from my school have collectively volunteered to spend our christmas holiday in Nepal in partnership with Global Action to make a positive impact within multiple charities operating within the area around and including Kathmandu. Our trip will consist of a variety of activities and tasks that we will be performing in order to better the lives of people and animals residing around and within the capital city. On day 3 we will be working with international agencies in Kathmandu, working at the forefront of poverty reduction and conservation in Nepal. On day 4 we will be travelling to a remote lakeside village called Pokhara and will be based there for the next few days whilst we work on poverty reduction in the area including the implementation of safe drinking water and renovations of old classrooms and a few more additions. All our efforts and learning experiences on this trip all go towards bettering the people of Nepal and we will be collaborating with five charities in particular to do so: The Gurkha welfare trust: Supports the veteran gurkha soldiers of Nepal and puts money towards improving living standards around the country. Icimod: Strengthens the livelihoods and protects communities from the effects of climate change. Practical action: Provides alternative technology to poor communities in Nepal to increase access to energy and food security whisky assisting in disaster risk reduction. WWF: Aims to reduce the adverse impacts of climate change and threats to biodiversity whilst promoting conservation and endangered wildlife protection. Kopan Monastary: Houses 740 Tibetan refugee monks and nuns. Donations go towards supporting their projects in remote mountain areas including an orphanage, animal sanctuary, and a health clinic. Of course, all of this would be difficult without raising sufficient funds to go towards bettering the lives of so many in Nepal. In order to do our part my friend and I will be running 5km per day for two weeks straight to raise awareness for our cause. I have been performing local tasks in order to raise some money of my own, however, with your kind donations we would be able to raise a far greater sum of money to go towards some of the harshest, poverty stricken areas in Nepal. Update on COVID-19 situation: The trip is still scheduled to take place. However, no matter whether the trip ultimately takes place or not, the money raised will still reach our chosen charities to help them in their efforts to reduce poverty in Nepal.
