It's May, and the lilacs, crabapple trees, tulips, and bleeding hearts blooming in our garden remind us so much of Rosie.
In honor of her, we have set up a scholarship endowment at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah, where Rosie took creative writing classes. The scholarship will support graduate and undergraduate students in the Telitha E. Lindquist College of Arts & Humanities.
Our family will match every dollar (up to $15,000) given between now and May 21, the day Rosie would have hosted her annual garden swap.
Rosie was born in Sacramento, Calif., where Lou and Fran Heinrich adopted her and showed her the world. After high school, she moved to Utah, where she skied and fell in love with Mike Droubay. Rosie was a free spirit who raised her two children, Johanna and Paul, with patience and creativity. Among so many other things, she was a feminist, an electrician, an animal lover, a master gardener, and a harmonica player. She was always going out of her way to encourage and support loved ones and strangers. If you told her your dreams, she would help make them come true.
We would be so grateful if you would consider helping this scholarship fund grow. Thank you for your love and support during this difficult time. Your kindness has carried us through.
