The story of my friendship with Chari is on-going and nonlinear. It seems as if I've known her forever, but the very first time we came in to contact was 12 years ago, when Chari was 5 and I was almost 13. I won't share the entire story here, but I will be attempting to share the entirety of our story together over the next 11 days leading up to April 4th, our shared birthday.

My first picture of Chari when she was 5.
My first big birthday wish for this year is that by April 4th, when I turn 24 (and Chari turns 17,) we can raise $2400 for her next year in school. One year typically costs $2500. We raised some money in the later months of 2018, but had some unexpected costs to pay for that had to do with her boarding, clothing, and supplies. I would love to send the money to her on her birthday to tell her of all of the love and support she's gathered from people all around the world!

My most recent picture of Chari, 16, in her boarding at Manuel Alexander Primary, with a smile after showing off her amazing exam scores!
My second wish is that I am praying for a yearly donor to cover her school fees. It has been over four years now that I have been directly fundraising in spurts every few months to support her financially and send money to her family, and a little over two years that I have been raising the $2500 yearly school fees for her time as a student at Manuel Alexander Primary School off the coast of Kenya. She is doing amazing and was even prefect this past year, with her exam fees over 300 points higher than they were when she first started! She is incredible. But it has gotten difficult as a full-time student with constant jobs, internships, and volunteer work to continually search for funding in small amounts. Of course, I will always do whatever it takes for her success, but I am praying for someone to fill that financial role in her life so that I can put more of my own resources into buying other things that she needs, sending monetary support to her family back in Kwale County, or even visiting her when I can.

Please join me in prayer, intention setting, love, and sacrifice. Help us to raise $2400 by our birthday on April 4th, and help spread the word about Chari to those who could help further into her future than just this fundraiser. I appreciate every inkling of support and adoration that you give to Chari, big, small, or in sending just one kind thought! She will forever know the love that drives the biggest change in our world. I can not think of any better 24th birthday present.
