Jamie Elizabeth Herrin passed away on January 24, 2019 at the age of 24 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Our friend Jamie loved music, reading, and animals. Her greatest gift has been her friendship. Jamie was a wise soul beyond her years. A great friend who would listen, offer advice, a shoulder to cry on and words of love and hope when you had none. It's her big heart and compassion for others that drove her to the medical services field after graduating high school.
No one knew how amazing she was more than her childhood sweetheart Stephen. Stephen Michael Herrin, Jr and Jamie met while just 16 and immediately fell in love. The kind of storybook, hallmark movie fantasy love. He would play the guitar for her shortly thereafter, Their love story continued and were married on June 13, 2014. Jamie retold the story as the best day of her life. the day she married her best friend, her soul mate. They lived their best lives together until there was a tragedy to their love story. Stephen unexpectedly passed away due to a pulmonary embolism that was unknown less than 3 years into their marriage. Soon afterwards, Jamie started to feel ill. Not long after seeking medical advice ,she was diagnosed with lymphoma. Even through treatments Jamie was still strong willed, keep fighting against this horrible disease. F#&ck Cancer!! It lies!! scans look good, gives you hope for remission , only to come back and slap you in the face. Jamie was one strong, loving, bad ass woman with a warriors heart. That is how we want you to remember her. Sitting on her porch with her dog, in the sun, having a drink and giving Cancer a big middle finger.
This is where we came to know and love Jamie. Jamie's warriors are a team of surviving widows/widowers who are in a national support group. Jamie is our extended family. We have been with her for support during grief and loss of her husband, medical treatments, bad days, great & amazing days. She has been there with us during the same. She never liked to be the center of attention. It is only now that she is pain free and in her husbands arms for eternity.
We are taking a collection to help her family . Any additional money received will be donated to St Judes Children's Hospital in Jamies name as per her request.
