What happened
On October 28, 2025, Hurricane Melissa made landfall in Jamaica as a Category 5 storm — the strongest to hit the island on record.
Massive winds, torrential rain, and floodwaters swept through many communities, destroying homes, infrastructure, and livelihoods. Tragically, so far 24 lives have been lost, and thousands more have been displaced.
Many areas remain cut off, with blocked roads, power outages, and urgent needs for shelter, food, clean water, and rebuilding.
Who I am
My name is Mrs. Norma Morrison. I was born in St. Thomas, Jamaica, but grew up in Kingston. I now live in the United States, but Jamaica will always be home. Seeing the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa has deeply touched my heart, and I am determined to help those affected. I am currently not in the financial position to do this on my own, and that is why I am creating this fundraiser.
The community I’m helping
This fundraiser is dedicated to the residents of Black River and surrounding communities who have been severely impacted by the hurricane. Many families have lost everything — their homes, belongings, and, heartbreakingly, their loved ones and sense of security.
Our goal
We are raising funds to support relief and rebuilding efforts in these communities. The money will be used for:
- Immediate relief items such as food, clean water, blankets, and hygiene kits
- Emergency shelter and repairs for homes damaged or destroyed
- Roofing materials and building supplies for rebuilding
I will personally purchase and deliver these supplies to ensure they reach those in genuine need.
Why your help matters
When homes are destroyed and infrastructure is wiped out, people lose more than shelter — they lose stability, income, and community. Helping now prevents longer-term hardship and gives families a chance to recover faster.
Funds going directly to local relief efforts mean faster, more effective help. By contributing, you help rebuild not just physical structures, but hope and resilience for families facing one of their hardest moments.
Transparency and accountability
I will provide regular updates showing how funds are used, along with photos and stories from affected families. Your trust is important, and I promise full transparency every step of the way.
How you can help right now
- Donate what you can — every dollar makes a difference.
- Share this campaign with friends, family, and your network.
- Leave a message of encouragement — knowing people care brings strength.
In the face of this devastating storm, the people of Jamaica are showing courage, faith, and determination. With your help and prayers, we can stand with them — helping to rebuild homes, restore lives, and bring hope for the days ahead.
Thank you for your support, and may God bless you.
Mrs. Norma Morrison
