24 Hours for Taz - S.W.A.L.K

Hi, my name is Jess and I’m fundraising on behalf of my family and my mam’s best friend of a lifetime, Tara — known to us all as “Taz.”

Taz was our aunt by love, not blood — someone who’s been part of our family for as long as I can remember. She was my mam’s most treasured friend, and her presence in our lives was one of love, laughter, and fierce loyalty.

Taz had that rare gift of saying exactly what she was thinking — if it was in her head, it was out of her mouth. She was hilariously sharp, witty, and always ready to drop a one-liner that left you laughing (or slightly shook). That’s part of what made her so special — she was unapologetically herself, and we loved her all the more for it.

On the afternoon of June 24th, surrounded by her loved ones, Taz passed away peacefully. Her battle with cancer was short and incredibly hard.

To honour her and help ease the financial burden on her family, we are holding a 24-hour Assault Bike Challenge at Unit 3 Health & Fitness in Naas on Thursday, July 17th at 6:30am, running through to Friday, July 18th at 6:30am.

Myself, my wife, family and friends will cycle in relay across the 24 hours, with Unit 3 gym members supporting during morning classes to help get the event off to a strong start and the evening classes to take us onto the home stretch.

Taz always signed her cards with S.W.A.L.K. – “Sealed With A Loving Kiss”, and that’s what we want this event to be — one final show of love and solidarity for someone who meant the world to us.
