24 and More for Katie Stubblefield

As Katie approaches her 24th birthday on Oct. 13, we CELEBRATE that by God's grace, she is still alive and that she has crossed SO many milestones along her recovery journey! Days filled with multiple doctor and strenuous physical & speech therapy appointments. Days filled with exhaustion, and days coupled with unbridled determination. Days filled with uncertainty of what the next day holds, but days filled with certainty of Who holds the future!

Over the past 6 years, Katie has made incredible physical gains thanks to an amazing talented medical team & tools, along with the unwavering devotion of her amazing parents. Searching for new research & opportunities to provide her with the care that will continue to take Katie to the next step towards independency remains as a top priority for them. And as Katie turns 24, we want to help provide three VERY much needed gifts that will do just that.....

1) VISION THERAPY- This is one of Katie's greatest current needs. Katie is mostly blind, but remarkably can see shadows from time to time thanks to the bullet missing her optic nerve. She has recently been awarded with the incredible gift of an OrCam, a tool recently invented that helps blind and visually impaired persons live a more independent life. In a nutshell, it is a camera/computer chip that attaches to the side of eyeglasses that will do the reading for a person... books, store signs, street signs, items for purchase and even has facial recognition to identify people who are in front of you! Paired with weekly vision therapy, the OrCam will certainly open up a whole new world for Katie's independency!

COST: $125/session

GIFT: We would like to raise $6,500 to provide Katie intensive vision therapy 1x per week until her next birthday, celebrating as her eyes re-open to the world around her!

2) STRENGTH TRAINING - Though exhausting and painful, Katie has tremendous "want to" & initiative to continue her physical/muscular improvement, but needs the opportunity for individualized strength training with a specialized trainer in a facility with the appropriate equipment to take her to the next level, targeting areas that are currently weak while building physical stamina to maximize daily therapies.

COST: $100/session

GIFT: We would like to raise $5,200 to provide Katie intensive strength training 1x per week until her next birthday, celebrating every step accomplished!

3) SUPPLEMENTS - The trauma experienced has beset Katie with a very complex internal need. She suffers from severe inflammation along with dopamine, serotonin, pituitary and hormonal issues... just to name a few. These high-grade (expensive) supplements are needed to strengthen & replenish the deficiencies of what her body isn't currently producing itself, which will in turn help her to be at her optimum self for the many physical and speech therapies each day/week.

COST: $250/month

GIFT: We would like to raise $3,000 to provide Katie with these needed supplements each month until her next birthday, celebrating every good day that her body is stable and strong!
