Hey Guys, here’s how 2025 started for us as a family and why we are now raising money for children with cancer.
January 2025 I took Tyler to see the GP following lumps that had appeared over time in places in his neck, GP fobbed this off relating it to tonsillitis, bloods were taken and we was called back in the next day to be told our child does NOT have cancer and repeat bloods will be done in 12 weeks. A further 2 more times I took him to the doctors and was told to wait for his next blood test.
april 2025 Tyler flew to America to compete at the summit and came home a silver world champion. But things still didn’t seem right with the lumps in his neck so instead of going to my GP I took Tyler to QA hospital for our world to be turned upside down. After chest scans, bloods & X-rays we were sat down to be told your child has cancer, I can’t even describe the heartache we all felt.
Everything moves so quickly, within a few days Tyler needed a PET scan, biopsy and more bloods, within 12 days on the 7th June Tyler was admitted to Southampton hospital Piam brown ward to start his first round of chemotherapy, on this day we found out his diagnoses Stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, which confirmed the cancer was all in his lymphatic system, organ entry points, spleen, abdomen & shoulder blade. Nothing will ever prepare you to hear this kind of information.
since then Tyler has been receiving chemotherapy every 2 weeks over a 2 week cycle, mentally & physically this hasn’t been easy for all of us but more so Tyler who continues to smile, who continues to make us all laugh, shows zero fear & really is the biggest fighter at just 13 years old. We are approaching half way of treatment but still a long fight ahead of him.
my reason for this fundraise is to help the charity’s (abbeys hero’s) & (sophies Legacy) and ward (Piam brown) for all there support, guidance & financial support they have given my family throughout Tyler’s treatment. Nothing would of been possible without these guys so on the 21st - 22nd September, Joe (Tyler’s dad) & work colleagues from KL scaffolding with be taking part in the 3 peaks challenge in 24 hours, climbing 3 mountains around the UK to give back to the amazing charities who helped us & the ward which is for young children fighting cancer.
any donation big or small will greatly be appreciated.
xx
