MOHIT TALWALKER FUND RAISER FOR HOUSTON FLOOD RELIEF AND REHABILITATION
Hi My name is Mohit Talwalker and I am a student at The Woodlands High School. The recent catastrophic flooding in Houston has killed Eight people, flooded more 1,000 homes and caused more than $5 billion in damage. While Houstonians, well known for their generosity, have already rallied from day one for relief operations, I want to focus on helping with rehabilitation, which will be a slow and ongoing process.

The most heartwarming testimonial of the Texan spirit is that in spite of the chaos and disarray brought on by the floods, there was no looting or criminal activity reported. People rallied to help each other and more than 1200 people were rescued in a short span of time.
I am raising funds for SEWA International (Sewa website https://www.sewausa.org/), which is currently doing excellent relief and rehabilitation work for the City of Houston.

Sewa International is a Hindu faith-based, humanitarian, nonprofit charity that globally undertakes disaster rescue, relief and rehabilitation, and, implements development projects. 'Sewa' in Sanskrit means 'Service beyond self' - a unique concept to serve humanity in distress through volunteer and civic engagement in the United States and internationally.

· Sewa International has requested the help from the community to provide information to them if someone / some families are in need of immediate assistance. You can mail to [email redacted] with details. Kindly put “Help Needed” as the subject line of the mail.
· Sewa International is also coordinating with local organizations like Red Cross, Crisis Cleanup among others to render relief through volunteering. Please send a mail to [email redacted] if you have time to help. Kindly put “Volunteer Help Available” as the subject line of the mail.
· Indo American volunteers have been assisting Red Cross with administrative work, supply distribution and damage assessment. Volunteers worked in emergency crisis centers set-up in various parts of the city.
