In Loving Memory of Keith | A Sudden and Heartbreaking Loss

It’s difficult to find the right words in moments like this. On Monday, May 12, 2025, Keith passed away unexpectedly, leaving his loved ones heartbroken and navigating an unimaginable loss.

Just one month ago, Keith underwent a heart ablation—a procedure intended to treat his atrial fibrillation. Though the procedure had been recommended years ago, he initially chose not to pursue it due to the risks, however rare. Recently, when his heart medications stopped working, he made the decision—after careful discussion with his cardiologist—to move forward with the surgery.

On April 4, he underwent the procedure. Tragically, within a week, Keith became very ill. Those who have followed the family’s updates know the tremendous challenges they’ve faced since then. Despite the incredible care provided by KU Medical Center, a rare and devastating complication occurred: a hole was inadvertently burned through Keith’s heart into his esophagus. This led to a severe blood infection, which caused sepsis, multiple strokes, and ultimately became too much for his body to overcome.

The suddenness of Keith’s passing has left his family not only in deep emotional pain but also facing significant financial hardship. In an effort to ease some of the burdens—medical expenses, memorial costs, and the many unforeseen needs that arise after such a loss—this GoFundMe has been created.
