Help Brandon Beat Cancer
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Christie (Brandon Higgins' wife). As you all may already know, Brandon was diagnosed with stage 2 gastric/esophageal cancer on September 30, 2022. Thankfully the oncologist is operating with the goal of this cancer being curable, but the treatment to get there has been long and very difficult so far, and we are not to the finish yet. Since the onset of Brandon's illness, I have been the sole source of income for our family. Unfortunately, since Brandon is self-employed, we have no short-term disability insurance for him. Of course, now that we are in the new year, our health insurance deductibles and out-of-pocket maximums have reset. While I can manage our normal day-to-day bills, the extra treatment-related expenses are adding up fast, and we need a little help.
Aside from the remaining bills from his treatment at VHC Health, Brandon needs a complex & major surgery that must be performed at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore. The best-case scenario is that Brandon will be hospitalized in Baltimore for at least 10 to 14 days, with the first 3 or 4 days spent in the ICU. I plan to be there with him at every step, and I intend to be able to focus on his healing, instead of focusing on how we are going to afford all of this.
We're grateful for all the support. We are very much looking forward to having his cancer eradicated, and getting Brandon to the other side of this ordeal, mostly intact, and ready for some tacos!
