I'm a 5 year cancer survivor!!!
when I first was diagnosed I hoped to survive and walk to help others. Today is my day and I can't do it without you!!
just before Father's Day of 2010 I underwent surgery to remove the cancer in my breast, this procedure is called a lumpectomy.
As a precaution I underwent radiation for several months to help illuminate any remaining cancer cells that could have been missed during surgery. The radiation was quite painful, resulting in large deep open burns and painful sores. Even though my breast were unbearably burnt I still found the strength to get into my car and drive myself to and from the radiation clinic daily. I did this because I wasn't just fighting for my life I was fighting for my child.
My son was only 14 at the time :(
I am left permanently disfigured with many scars. My scars remind me everyday I'm not just somebody. I'm somebody who's life was on the line and I came out a winner, a warrior and I want to help others become a warrior just like me.
Im asking all my friends family and those who have been touched with cancer to help me help those to become a warrior just like me!!!
I can't fight alone and neither can they together we can make a difference.
So in order to make a difference I am participating in AVON 39 The Walk to End Breast Cancer. It won’t be easy, but that’s why it's worth it. From now until AVON 39 weekend, I’ll train to strengthen my body to walk over 39 miles in two days. I’ll also be raising funds to crush breast cancer. This is where you come in.
I am required to raise at least $1,800 to EARN MY 39, but I plan to raise much, much more! I hope that I can count on your support!
The dollars you pledge will put food on the table of a breast cancer patient and her family. They will enable access to mammograms and medicine, fuel research, and save lives
I’m walking with thousands of other 39ers. We’re banding together in solidarity and have one goal: to take breast cancer down.
