My name is Jared. I am the oldest of four boys. I don't know how important family is to you, but it is everything to me. So, when I found out my brother had a slight setback and had his truck "good and stoled" LOL, I knew I wanted to help however I could. Being that I'm not Donald Trump, I decided a good way to help would be to raise a little dough so that he can replace the old big-blue rig.
Although we have had some good laughs about his truck being stolen, it does significantly affect his ability to live in Oakland, California. His truck makes it possible for him to earn enough to live in Oakland so that he can do what he loves, which is why he moved there. This isn't just about a truck.
In January, Brady moved back to Oakland to be part of a small team, Elevate Gospel Church, that works in West Oakland and the Alameda County Juvenile Justice Center. The team primarily seeks out youth who are underserved and forgotten by society in many ways. His primary role on the team is to build relationships young men either headed toward or trying to get out of the juvenile system. He does this to show a young kid that somebody does care about him and he has worth. Brady is one of the most selfless people I know. He's always willing to help others, even though it may not benefit him. Even though I'm his older brother, he's shown me a lot of traits that I am working to instill in my own character.
I'm not one to ask for help, but I am trying to grow and incorporate some of the things I see in my brother into my own life. Doing something to help others just because it's the right thing to do is something I want to do more in my own life. My brother does this, and this is an opportunity for me to help him because it's the right thing to do. I want to help him continue to do the things that have encouraged me in my own life.
I have four kids, Skya, Bentliegh, Zeppelin, TBD (one is in the oven) and my brother is a huge part of their lives. They named him UB - for Uncle Brady - and he's their favorite uncle. The picture you see is of his nieces and nephew. Saying that my brother has been a positive influence on mine and many other kids' lives, is an understatement. Please find it in your heart to help this man who has helped so many others.
I figure a minimum of $6,000 would help him get a truck that is dependable and that he won't have to constantly be working on because that's all he did on his last one.
Feel free to leave a comment or ask me any questions about this fundraiser or my brother and more details on what he is doing in Oakland. I don't have a facebook and my tech talent is limited to email. If you are unable donate, that's okay. Your thoughts, ideas and suggestions are welcome and appreciated.
Please forward this to anyone who you think might be willing to lend a hand, thank you.
God speed,
Jared
