Hello friends. I am writing this with true vulnerability (something i am no good at being) because I am desperate. On Wednesday morning, I woke up and found my baby boy Bam Bam laying in the hallway unable to move. At 2:30 am the previous night, he was running around and playing when I went to bed. I have no clue what happened. No clue how. But immediately I tried getting him up and his back end slipped under him and he had no control of his legs. Carson (our son) was starting his virtual learning right then so I had dad take Bam to the emergency room immediately. After hundreds of dollars for tests etc. they called me to tell me his pelvic bone is broken in the top left area and his joint was displaced and also has possible sciatic nerve damage. He was seen by an orthopedic surgeon at the emergency room, and they quoted me for the surgery. $8,500 is the cost to get a plate put on to reconnect the pelvic bone, to put a screw into his displaced joint, and for the ct scans needed to properly treat the sciatic nerve problems. At this time I can not afford this surgery. I’ve tried every possible idea I can think of for an alternative. I was debating taking him to Mexico for the surgery. But i talked myself out of that one after reading horror stories about people taking their animals there. I’ve called 30+ places all over Southern Cali and Arizona and the cheapest place I’ve been able to contact was a place in Arizona who quoted me $1500 less than here. I am afraid to transport him in the car for that long. He is in so much pain, even with the pain meds he is on. My boy Bam is the most outgoing, social, strong, loving, and happy cat you could ever meet. He always wants to be around people. He is a purebred Bengal, who just turned 2 years old last month. He is young. He has 15 years of life left to live. The break is bad, I will attach a photo of the x-rays so you can see the break. It’s not something that will heal correctly on his own without compromising his ability to walk. Any and all donations will be greatly appreciated. I know the power of the people who love and support Kelly, Carson, and I is stronger than anything. I am asking for help because it’s time sensitive to get it done before cartilage starts to form.
