Martiya's health battles began in December 2019. She was admitted to Hemby Children's Hospital and had an extended PICU stay. After her diagnosis of HLH, she began receiving treatment with St. Jude’s in Charlotte, North Carolina. After a long battle, Martiya went to be with Jesus on October 1, 2021. She was at Duke Hospital with her mother Beverly. 

Beverly is a single mother that has always provided for her daughter. Beverly has missed a lot of work since December 2019. As her family, her friends, and her community, let's rally around Beverly and help her with the expenses needed to cover Martiya's memorial. Martiya was such a beautiful girl with a beautiful soul. She will be missed dearly.
