On May 17, 2020 our dear Kim went to the ER for back pain. Thinking it might be a kidney infection, she was expecting to get treated and sent home with medication. But they saw something and kept her for additional tests and she was not allowed to have her husband, Denny, with her while she waited for her diagnosis due to the current pandemic. She was kept for 9 days and was told she has multiple myeloma! This is an incurable cancer in the bone marrow. Her whole life changed.
Kim was immediately started on a weekly regimen of chemotherapy. As well as blood transfusion and steroids to combat the side effects of the chemo, when needed.
Kim’s spirits remain high, even though her world as she knew it has been completely turned upside down. Her faith has kept her strong. Her family and friends have kept her supported and loved. But the stress and reality can hit hard during these times. Bills keep coming and she hasn’t even gotten to the BIG procedure yet.
Very soon Kim and Denny will be at the Mayo for several days where they’re taking a “class” to be told what is going to happen and what to expect while she gets treatment. Kim will then start a 5-8 week stay at the Mayo in Rochester for a stem cell transplant. The doctors will be taking her healthy stem cells, extracting them and freezing them to be later implanted to regenerate new healthy cells. They will then bombard her with intense chemo to destroy her diseased bone marrow.
During this time she will need to be close to the Mayo (they are also keeping a watch on her kidneys and heart) and will need someone with her the entire time. Denny needs to continue to work and so friends will be with her. She will be experiencing nausea, exhaustion, and losing her beautiful blonde hair.
We are asking for you to give generously to Kim’s GO FUND ME page as they have so many added expenses and lost wages while Kim is on medical leave. The stress of this devastating news is bad enough without the stress of how to pay for medical bills insurance doesn’t cover, gas going back and forth, lodging for what could be 2 months, food, essentials, etc.
Kim and Denny have been so generous to others, opening up their home for anyone who needs a place, a meal, a talk or a hug. Please reciprocate and bless them. Most of all, please pray for Kim, Denny, Austin, Miranda & Logan, Denny Jr. & Jen, as they are all affected by this news. Pray for the doctors and nurses and her support team.
Thank you for helping us reach a goal of $25,000!
With the most sincerity,
Her those who love Kim.
