Murdock's Medical Bills
Donation protected
As many of you know, I lost my best friend last weekend. It came unexpectedly and took me by complete surprise.
My German-Shorthaired Pointer, Murdock, passed away after he developed a bullae in his lung which burst, causing air leakage throughout his chest cavity. The constant flow of air could not be stopped without trying to repair the bullae. Even if that surgery was successful, the chance of the bullae reforming and bursting again was very high. I had to make the hardest decision of my life, and decided to have Murdock euthanized.
He went silently and peacefully. I could not even think of the idea of Murdock having to live a life where he could not get out to run aside me while we mountain biked together. Or chasing geese in the Deschutes River. Or exploring the many waterfalls in Central Oregon.
Murdock was everything to me. My love, my boy, my life companion, my cuddle buddy, and my heart. It is going to be a hard road ahead, but I can take solace in knowing that he lived a life that any dog would have dreamed of. I just have to focus on the good times we had, because believe me...there were plenty.
Now, to the reason for this GoFundMe. I'm really not excited about having to do this, but, unfortunately, the medical expenses leading up to Murdock's passing were way beyond my means. He had 3 vet visits with X-rays before I had to take him to the Emergency Animal Hospital. There, Murdock received a CT Scan, multiple X-rays, and overnight care with constant medication and oxygen. I am very grateful for the doctors doing everything they could for Murdock, but ultimately, his body could not hold up.
The vet costs ended up putting me almost $4,000 in debt. I know that other people have been in worse positions than me and I am not looking for handouts. It would just mean the world to me if you could do anything that you can to help put these bills behind me, so I can focus more on the joy that Murdock brought to my life, and everyone who encountered him.
I would like to thank all of my friends and family who have reached out to me during this very rough time. It means so much knowing that I have people there to support me during one of the hardest points in my life.
