Help Us Visit Mum with Cancer
Donation protected
In late June of 2016 my husband’s mum, Christine Pritchard, was diagnosed with Gliobastoma, a rare and dangerous form of brain cancer. This type of tumor grows and spreads quickly, and can rarely be cured. After initial plans to begin radiation and chemotherapy in August, doctors determined that an expedited and more intensive dose of radiation would better serve the quickly growing tumor. However, after one week of radiation, we learned that treatment was not working, and that her conditioned had escalated. She was taken off all treatment in early August. Doctors have given Christine a few months at most, but we have been advised to try and get to England (where she lives) as soon as possible to spend some of her remaining days together.
We, Steve, Nicole, Ivy and Risa Pritchard, are asking for your support in helping us visit Christine so we may provide our love and support during this tough time. We are particularly concerned with making sure our kids, Ivy and Risa, get to see their grandmother, with whom they are very close, before her condition ultimately deteriorates. Christine and her husband, Paul, had been planning a Thanksgiving holiday in California, which we were very much looking forward to. However, she is no longer able to travel, and time is now of the essence.
Right now the cost of flights from California to England, for 4 people, is beyond our scope. We had hoped to fly out on Christmas Day at a reduced rate (and allowing us time to save up), but given her current condition, we are now hoping to be there by early September. We ask that you please consider supporting our family in our effort to see Chris. Any amount you can share would be greatly appreciated. Donations will only be spent on necessities, and any extra funds will be donated to the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, part of the specialist cancer hospital where Christine is being seen.
Flight prices are changing daily, but we (conservatively) estimate the following breakdown of costs for 1 week in England:
-Flights (includes tax and baggage): $1000 x 4 people = $4000
-Air bnb: $125 x 6 nights = $800
-Car rental (7 days): $275
Thank you for reading, and we appreciate your kind words of support!
