Al Farr Expense Gift

Al Farr, our dear friend and colleague, has been battling a rare form of cancer -Adena Carcinoma (with less than 200 reported cases in the world)- for the past two years. Due to a careless misdiagnosis, Al was not afforded the correct and timely treatment that he desperately needed, resulting in a tragic prognosis. Radiation, chemotherapy and other treatments have been aggressively pursued but have not been effective. Al continues to fight, Hospice is actively involved, his final expenses have been paid, and his loving wife Sharon is by his side. But due to his inability to work, costly medical treatments and the life changes that come with illnesses, it would be a blessing for Al and Sharon to have some help right now.

Al was mortified when I suggested a GoFundMe to raise money that will alleviate much of the financial stress they are experiencing. I told him that as his friends, we want to help and that accepting help from people who love us is not charity. It is a form of love and caring for each other. That is what we do. He would (and has done) for us, and without hesitation.

47 years of tireless and devoted defense of the underdog as a criminal investigator/PI, his ready willingness to collaborate/commiserate/mentor with his colleagues on cases, his enthusiastic love of life, family, friends, and his promotion of ethics via example and legislation : USA v. Stella M. Nickell, for example. In reviewing that high-profile case, you get a glimpse of his dogged pursuit of the truth and justice. In parting ways, Al has always said to everyone: Be Good To Yourself…BGTY. Now, I ask that we extend that back to him.
