UPDATED VERSION OF OPIE’S STORY SINCE MY VET HAS GIVEN HIM A NEW DIAGNOSIS.
Hello everyone! First of all thanks for taking the time to read this. Opie is a 4 year old dog that is believed to be a Sharpei/Pit mix. He came into the shelter in March of 2020 (primary picture is what he looked like coming in) after animal control picked him up. The shelter was able to find his previous owners and they did express interest in taking Opie back, but neither I nor the shelter was about to let THAT happen. Due to limited resources, the vet at the shelter was having difficulties diagnosing and treating him. I was his foster for a few months before it was decided that I go ahead and just adopt him so he could get the full vet care that he needed without using the shelter’s resources, otherwise it was looking like the shelter was going to have to euthanize him if no one wanted him. That being said, he is now fully my dog and I am NOT looking to rehome as we have fallen completely in love with him and his down to earth personality.
Upon taking him to my family vet, he was diagnosed with a very serious case allergies as well as a secondary infection. We are honestly still finding out exactly what he has. The plan is to eventually take him to see a dermatologist. So far he is on medications Clindamycin and Prednisone. These add up to be approximately 150 dollars a month. This does not include the monthly bags of food, toys, or the clothes he needs to keep warm.
This is where you come in, my friends. All of the proceeds to this GoFundMe go directly towards any Opie expenses such as his baths, food, or any clothing. We deeply appreciate any and all support, so don’t feel pressured to make any huge donations. ❤️
