Help replace lost guitar & gear
Donation protected
I'm a guitarist/ vocalist, or, as I like to say, a self-accompanied singer. I work in genres outside the usual because I enjoy trying to expand the range of what we engage with, so I play music from Renaissance and Baroque times, "jazz samba," or bossa nova, ragtime and other kinds of finger style guitar. A lot of it is on the quiet or subtle side, so venues are tricky to find.
I've played for hundreds of hours in the street in the last 5 years here in Annapolis, MD, and I want to continue my work in live music performance, organizing "pop up concerts" in gardens, lawns & public spaces.

Last autumn I took what turned out to be a fairly disastrous bus trip. The bus line lost two guitars and some gear. I was successful in recovering one of the guitars, but, even though the bus line acknowledged they had the other one, they have arbitrarily closed the claim on it, claiming I have recovered it, which is not true.
I am playing with a borrowed guitar and gear, but cannot go on indefinitely, so I am seeking funds to replace my classical guitar, a battery powered street amp, and a P.A.system capable of handling larger gigs, which I lack altogether, as well as a few accessories like a microphone and cables.
I'm not trying to become rich or famous, I just want to be able to continue my work & put my best foot forward. I have devoted the last 5 years of a 45 year engagement with music, to (mostly) unpaid public performance, and am intent on continuing, because music is in trouble. For thousands of years, music has been our social glue, bringing us together. Now it has become a private experience for many, living (?) as binary code inside your telephone. What we are losing in the exchange is the experience of our common humanity in the embodied realization of an art that leaves no footprint except in the soul, like a fountain of grace that falls into nothingness even as it sparkles, reaching for the light.
You might like to read a piece I wrote for our beautiful Annapolis arts magazine, UpstArt Annapolis: upstart-annapolis.com/ink-alive-on-city-dock/
I deeply appreciate your help, and will continue to work hard to justify your confidence.
