THE ROOF ARRIVED!!!
A personal and generous donation provides a roof over our heads!  THANK YOU SO MUCH! (you know who you are!)
Next we'd like to put in a floor.  I'm going to try and get 5/8" plyboard.
It will be sturdy for our needs.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION! !

Its been just over one year since TC WINSTON.
Lili and I feel grateful to have an enclosed kitchen and water catchment shed. (where we currently sleep),  built from salvaged material.
If we could get our roof tin up we'd be one step closer to a home.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION AND GENEROSITY.  You'll always have a place to stay in Fiji!

Life in the jungle is moving forward.
Our kitchen is built, just slowly doing finishing touches.
The water catchment building is built now.  So far, we've used salvaged material (including nails) from our blown down dwellings.   Except for the roofing tin, its new.
Last will be the living quarters.
We now have the foundation for our home, built from new material.   We are so grateful to have come so far in rebuilding our compound after losing everything.
Thank you for all the support I have received.  Theres still so m
uch to do.   Its 'off the grid' out here so there is no electricity yet.  All the solar panels need checking, along with the inverter, controller/regulator and batteries....which may need replacing.  PLEASE help us rebuild our home and remember you will ALWAYS have a place to stay in Fiji!
VINAKA!

Hi, its me, Laural Llewellyn and my granddaughter Liliana.....
On February 20, 2016, we survived hurricane Winston by running for our lives as the house we took refuge in was being blown apart.   We ran from room to room as roofs blew off and walls crushed in.  When we had to run outside to get to the solar room,  I had to lay on Liliana so she would not blow away.   We huddled between two freezers, getting drenched by blowing rain, as the winds outside exceeded 200 miles per hour.
We were able to get out to our land 5 days later and Winston left  our house in a pile of sticks.
We have salvaged some hardwood and a stove.  But we basically lost EVERYthing.   Lili has some toys that we were able to salvage and she is happy with the silliest little thing we find...we are still finding stuff as debris is scattered ALL over the land.
We need new roofing materials,  nails, windows, labor costs and much more.
I am so grateful the DISMAC foundation donated a family tent and cement, a friend donated 3 posts, Samantha and Mike loaned us their tools, and we are using some of the salvaged wood to build a "living kitchen" area where we can live and cook while we build a living quarters.
We were able to break ground May 5 for the kitchen with the donated material.
We still have no outside communications from my village,  we had to go to Suva to order the roofing material.
I am Liliana's Legal Guardian and need to provide her with a proper home....tenting is fun, but not a long term situation.
Thank you SO SO much for whatEVER you can help us with.   We are so grateful to be alive and now the rebuilding of our life begins....
THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO READ THIS.
LOVE, LAURAL AND LILIANA
