As some of you have heard, my family's business "Howe's Greenhouse and Flower Shoppe" in Dewitt, MI had a fire at 3 a.m. Sunday morning on August 2nd.
The fire started with a fan motor that burned out during that early morning which tragically caused damage to four of the six greenhouses. Thankfully no one was injured and it didn't burn the main building that encompasses the flower shop, design area, and office. Unfortunately, the parts that were destroyed are not insured, so that is why I started this fundraiser to help offset some of the expenses that will occur with rebuilding the greenhouses and purchasing new equipment.
The greenhouse has never been just a business to our family, but a way to serve our small-town community with a passion and knowledge of flowers that my Great Grandparents started nearly 100 years ago! My grandpa, Richard Howe has spent his whole life involved with the business. While my mom, Kim, and Aunty Sally have worked beside him for over 30 years.
I know it's been tough times for everyone this year, please know that we appreciate all the support and love that has been given throughout this hardship. We look forward to getting back on our feet and to continue serving this wonderful community that has generously supported us for nearly 5 generations!
