A horse, the Lord, and I ministering to kids in need. I love it.
Wanna join the Lord in what He is doing? I wish you could. You can actually, just not directly. But you can partner with me and be as close as a horse’s breath.
This summer, I am blessed with the great opportunity to spend 2 months interning at Hooves of Hope, a non-profit organization located in Potomac, Illinois. This ministry gives children and youth the opportunity to ride horses, be mentored, and learn about Christ.
So why are horses put in the context of mentoring and ministry? Horses have such a beautiful and gentle strength about them. They have a tendency to somehow sense and understand the emotions of those around them, be it excitement or fear, and respond gently. Children struggle with a vast array of problems ranging from a simple lack of work ethic to physical and mental disabilities to emotional difficulties. These challenges and many others can lead to children sometimes feeling discouraged, confused, and unaccepted. The comforting presence of a horse makes them feel loved and more comfortable and it is in that setting that the interns and volunteers minister! The goal is that the message of Christ will be spread through this ministry and that the kids will know they are loved and valued.
What is my part in this ministry this summer? From May 30th to August 5th, I will be helping to organize events, train others, work with kids and families, develop curriculum for the Bible lessons, and help run the ranch! While the rest of my responsibilities are still up in the air, I am so excited to grow and be challenged by the Lord!
So what can you do to join in what the Lord is doing at Hooves of Hope?
☑Prayer
-Please pray that the Lord would be my strength and would stretch and teach me as I journey with Him through this adventure!
-Please pray for Hooves of Hope as they continue to expand and improve their ministry. Pray that the Lord would be so glorified and that the truths that the kids and youth are taught would be taken home to their families and would have a deep impact on their lives.
☑Financial assistance
-To cover my living and ministry expenses, I need to raise $3,150.
-Since Hooves of Hope is a non-profit organization, your contributions will be tax deductible.*
☑Both!
Thank you so much for being a part of my life and for supporting me in this adventure! I am so excited to see what the Lord will teach me this summer and what He will continue to do through Hooves of Hope!
*Hooves of Hope is a 501(c)3 so all gifts are tax deductible. At the end of the year they will automatically send out charitable contribution letters for anyone who has made a donation of $50 or more. Charitable contribution letters can also be generated for gifts less than $50 upon request.
