Help Peter & Joanne - fire relief
Donation protected
I set this page up for friends and family to make any donations towards getting Peter & Joanne through this rough patch and get them started again.
Looking at the maps of the aftermath of the Fort McMurray fire, their house was right in the center of the fires in Abasands. With only 30 minutes to evacuate they had just enough time to grab only the essentials (and of course the cat!) and make it out.
As any of you who know my father and step-mother, they are two of the kindest and most caring people around, always willing to give a helping hand. Just as an example, the photo above was taken just after the evacuation from Fort McMurray when they ran into a family who were stuck without transportation and with children who were having trouble breathing due to all the smoke. They could have just given them a ride, but instead, gave them (complete strangers) the keys to one of their cars to help them get away to safety and where they needed to go.
I thought it would be a nice gesture if we took our turn in helping them out and provinding them with some funds to get them back on their feet as they figure out what to do next.
