The Great Give is an online social giving campaign designed to promote the aspirations and reward the achievements of young people particularly those in underserved urban communities.

I am an African American, Marine, Morehouse college alumnus and father of three children who has been the beneficiary of kindness from people from all walks of life. That kindness came in the form of expressions of personal interest, coaching, and sometimes financial support.  Ultimately, that generosity opened doors of opportunity for me. However, this campaign is not about me. This campaign is about opening doors of opportunity for young people by promoting positivity, celebrating achievement, and investing in our future. 

Social media inundates our daily conscience, particularly that of our youth, with messages that are not always productive.  Since we know that thoughts become things, we've decided to use some of this technology to connect to future leaders who deserve more of our attention.

Young people are encouraged to creatively share their 'story' on The Great Give facebook page then promote their application for the scholarship by soliciting likes from friends and family.

Our volunteer committee will narrow the list of applicants to a group of finalists on December 1, 2016 then award scholarships by December 31, 2016. Every dime raised here will be awarded to students based upon the number of likes their story receives and voting from the committee.

Many people wonder what they can do to counter negativity and participate in solutions.  It was that feeling that inspired me to create this campaign.  No contribution is too small.  Collectively, we can make a difference!
