Aurelio's Medical Fund

When I think of Aurelio, I think dedication.  Aurelio is dedicated to his family, to his friends, to his job, to his countries, and to sports.  Now, unfortunately, his efforts are turning to a dedication to keep living and become well again.

You might not realize it, but Aurelio is in a battle for his life.  He has been sick for quite some time with a mystery illness, but the mystery has been solved and it is thymus cancer.

Aurelio has worked as a custodian for BCSD for 20 years.  I got to know Aurelio when I started working at Hailey Elementary School 8 years ago and ever since then, we've been friends.

As the kids of Hailey Elementary School shuffle out the door at 2:30 every day, Aurelio swoops in and begins his daily work; clean rooms, shovel snow, wash windows, vacuum, and a ton of other "behind the scenes" work that keep an old school like Hailey Elementary looking good.

As he cleans my room, we talk, and over many years, and many conversations, I've learned his story.  Aurelio immigrated to this country because he wanted a better life.  He became a citizen and raised three beautiful, talented, and intelligent kids in the Wood River Valley.  His kids, Nancy, Amy, and Audari, are the lights of his life.  He would do anything to help them and he loves them beyond measure.  He is passionate about sports.  If you need advice on how to become a better soccer player, talk to Aurelio.  If you want to know why the teachers always win the 5th graders vs teachers basketball game, then watch Aurelio on the basketball court.  He also cares deeply about doing his job, and doing it well.  Even though he's been feeling horrible, he carries on, without complaint, and continues cleaning, carrying trash, and taking pride in his work.

Now it's our turn to show our dedication to Aurelio.  Let's raise money to help Aurelio fight this battle.  He will need money to pay medical bills, pay for travel expenses (outside specialists), and to help keep things "normal" for Audari.

You can give a little, or you can give a lot, whatever you can manage would be appreciated tremendously and will make a difference.

Thank you so much,
