My fiancé Tia Braswell and I are having our first babies. They happen to be identical twin girls. As soon as the doctors found out she was having twins they put her on bed rest and wasn't allowed to work. Always going well until a few weeks back when the babies were diagnosed with TTTS (twin to twin transfusion syndrome) it is a disease of the placenta (or afterbirth) that affects identical twin pregnancies. TTTS affects identical twins (or higher multiple gestations), who share a common monochorionic placenta.
The shared placenta contains abnormal blood vessels, which connect the umbilical cords and circulations of the twins.
The common placenta may also be shared unequally by the twins, and one twin may have a share too small to provide the necessary nutrients to grow normally or even survive. Because of this Disease we had to fly to Denver the next day after the diagnosis and Tia underwent surgery to save the babies lives. It didn't go as planned, but the babies are strong and fighting to survive. We are having to take it week by week to see if they'll both make it to delivery fine. God willing they both will be fine. This disease took us by surprise and we were not prepared financially to handle extra medical expenses and also prepare for their arrival sooner than September. Now it's hard to prepare for their arrival more than likely in June. We have been stock piling diapers and wipes and have already got the cribs, changing table, bassinet, and other larger purchases, but we are still shy of all the things to make a home for our little girls. I'm posting on here to see if anyone would be willing to donate anything they'd be willing to help us prepare for our girls when they come back to Sierra vista after being born. I'll also need help with medical bills (that the specialist for the surgery will entail) and travel expenses that we were not prepared for to get my fiancé and the girls back to Arizona. I'll post it on this post when I get it made. Thank you all and God bless.
