In loving memory of Jose Leopoldo Sanchez

My father, Jose Leopoldo Sanchez’s life tragically came to an end last night at 7:13pm July 31st,2020. He was one of the strongest men I’ve ever come to know. From being attacked by a dog to the point where his bone was visible, to being a double transplant survivor. His battle started 15 years ago when unfortunately his organs began to fail him. He started dialysis two times a week for the next 5 years, and after being stuck with a needle for so long his veins collapsed in his left arm and had to have a tube surgically installed to continue dialysis. Finally after 5 years, he had the opportunity to finally get a double transplant for his kidney and liver. In the years after the transplants, he lived his life to the fullest and enjoyed spending time with his family. His wife, his children, his grandchildren, and his great-grandchildren, the Sanchez family, is grateful for the time we were able to enjoy with him and appreciate the extra time we got to spend with him. Unfortunately, his health started to decline at the start of this year. His transplanted kidney began failing, and was followed by a blood clot. This required further surgery in which the doctors installed a wire mesh to prevent the blood clot from reaching his heart. After the surgery, he suffered from delirium and was unable to recognize anyone in the family nor himself. Despite this, he continued to fight for his life and memory and was able to recover and return to his family. After returning home, he asked to spend every second with family and made sure that every one of his children was okay. These were his last last moments. That is the type of husband, father, and grandfather that Jose Leopoldo Sanchez was. The greatest man to ever ever live.
