Hi, my name is Kim Balogh, and I graduated with Jeff from Lakeview High School in 1982, but we truly became good friends over the past few years through my role as the Youth Director at our church, Bethel Lutheran in St. Clair Shores. Not only does Jeff mean a lot to me, but his daughters hold a very special place in my heart.
Jeff was a man that wore several different hats, as the saying goes. He was a father, son, worker and, most of all, friend. After high school, we lost touch for many years. I remember about 5 years ago seeing a man walking down Frazho road towards our church on Little Mack with three girls in beautiful “Sunday Church dresses”! I remember thinking, "Wow! What a great dad walking with his girls to church." Jeff always had his girls in church, Sunday school, catechism and active in all events at church.
I am fortunate to say that I have a awesome relationship with his oldest daughter, Cassidy, and his youngest daughter, Kirsten (AKA Pea Pod). They both have always been involved with me and the youth group.
Jeff loved his girls and wanted only the best for them. Cassidy is 19 and a student at Eastern Michigan Univerisity. Kerrigan is 17 and has a 1 year old daughter. Kirsten is 11 and was always Jeff's little angel. Cassidy and Kirsten were involved in the accident, but they are okay, and suffering only minor injuries. The greatest hurt in all of this is the loss of their amazing Dad. His passing has left his girls with broken hearts and a broken family.
Jeff was a man of God, so we know he is watching over his girls from heaven, but he needs our help to do what we can to watch over them here on earth. All donations on this page will go towards helping his daughters financially, including medical bills, car expenses, and everyday needs.
Our church, Bethel Lutheran, will have a memorial service for him in a few weeks, and I will post more details on Jeff's Facebook wall as they are available.
It's Christmas time- let's give this family a Christmas miracle!
