U23 Sprint Kayak World Championship
Donation protected
Hey Everyone!
My name is Rebecca (though most people just call me Bec), I'm 20 years of age and I am from a regional city called Bendigo, located in the heart of Victoria.
At the National Championships this year, I was selected to represent Australia at the U23 World Championships for Sprint Kayaking, to be held in Belarus this July. The cost to attend the event is substantially greater this year due to funding being cut from up-and-coming athletes and being diverted toward the Olympic athletes. In addition, being a regional athlete, I hardly ever get any assistance from the state or national sporting bodies such as the VIS or AIS, making it extremely difficult for me to fund my sporting endeavours year in and year out.
My grandparents have already very kindly donated some money to my cause, however I still require $6000 in order to cover the costs of flights, food, accomadation, uniform, car/bus transport, race entry fee, boat transportation fees and coaching fees for the 5 weeks that I will be overseas.
I have competed at these World Championships for the past 2 years, improving each time (9th in 2014 and 6th in 2015), and I really believe that this year, I can stand on the podium with my team mates in the K4 (kayak with 4 people in it) event. My ultimate dream is to compete at the Olympics - I have my sights set on Tokyo 2020.

I'm being sent invoices for the trip as I write, so I would really like to raise the money as quickly as possible so that I don't have any outstanding payments before I leave. I'm doing a bit of work to earn some money to go toward my trip, but between studying at university and a heavy training schedule, I can hardly fit in any shifts.
I am incredibly grateful for any support or assistance I can get. Attending this event means a lot to me - it's the gateway to achieving many of my goals, both sporting and personal. I don't just want to do this for myself, but for my team mates and my country too. So please help get me to the World Champs this year so I can start realizing my dreams.
Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou! ( times infinity)
