Debra (Debbie) Funkhouser-Acton, 59, born on August 9, 1960 to the late John Burns and the late Barbara (Walker) Leser, passed away at her home in Riverdale, MD on July 30, 2020 after a long battle with her health. She is survived by her sister, Tammy (Ed), her daughter Shannon, her stepson Michael, three grandsons, a granddaughter, two great grandchildren, and many “adopted” children and grandchildren. She is predeceased by her step father William Leser and her husband Michael (Mike) Acton Sr. Most will remember Debbie for her dedication to the fire department. Joining in August 1976, she was a life member and past president of Berwyn Heights Volunteer Fire Department & Rescue Squad (Company 14) Ladies Auxiliary.. With over 40 years of service, she was a past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of Prince George’s County Volunteer Fire & Rescue Association and inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1998. Debbie was a loving mother, sister and friend, and most importantly she was a doting Nina. She touched countless lives and hearts, and she had so much love to give. There will not be a day that goes by where Debbie is not missed by friends and family, including her precious kitty. Debbie’s family is looking for help with her End of Life Celebration and medical expenses. Please feel free to share.
