Father of 3 saving for therapy and a car.

Hi, my name is Victoria Pruski. My husband Adam Pruski age 34 was involved in a life altering accident on Tuesday June 9th on his way to work at Performance Foodservice in Dover Florida. While stopped waiting to leave the housing complex my husband’s Toyota RAV4 was t-boned by a pickup truck. The impact was so strong it knocked my husbands vehicle of the road virtually slicing open the driver side of his vehicle. (see attached images) The driver of the other vehicle didn’t even stop to see if my husband was ok. Instead, the other driver fled the scene of the accident on foot. He was found later about a mile from the scene. The arresting officer suspected he was on drugs or alcohol when he was found. Miraculously, my husband was alive but barely conscious when police and EMT’s arrived on seen, without question saving his life. The doctors at Tampa General Hospital Trauma unit where my husband was taken immediately took him into surgery to stop the internal bleeding to his vital organs. It was touch and go for a while. Initial life saving surgeries included repairing his lacerated kidney, spleen, liver, pelvic artery and bowel removal along with collapsed lungs. His additional operation the next day was to repair his shattered pelvis which required 4 screws to repair it. (See attached image) Thankfully, all the operations went well. Adam was in the hospital from June 9th till July 2nd when he was released to come home. No doubt concerns about the possibility of contracting COVID-19 hastened the decision to have adam leave the hospital and to continue his recovery at home. The doctors, however, cannot be certain that no additional surgeries will be required. Current surgeries and medical expenses exceeding $510,000 to date, without rehabilitation cost added in. Over the next 6-9 months Adam will be focused on therapy and rehab, but the first 2-3 months he will be confined to a wheelchair as he cannot put any weight on his pelvic area. Adam’s hope is that he will be able to return to modified work duties in 9-12 months. Our family wants to thank you for all the support that has poured in from all over the US, Canada and Honduras. I cannot even begin to describe how incredibly supportive Adam’s employer - Performance Foodservice- has been to our family. We are in debt and will be forever grateful to the police, EMT’s, Tampa hospital trauma center, nurse’s and orthopedic surgeons. They have given Adam a second chance at life, and our 3 kids their father back. But as you can imagine, Adam’s recovery will be a financially challenging one. This financial situation became more bleak when we found out that the other driver was not properly covered and has no meaningful personal assets or insurance. As such, several lawyers that we have contacted have all suggested that we not even consider taking legal action, as very little would come from it. This is most disheartening considering rehabilitation, additional surgeries, salary loss and unforeseen expenses. Whether you personally know Adam or not we want you to know that he is maintaining his optimism and taking it day by day. Any financial support that you can offer will be greatly appreciated. Again, thank you for all your support. You are in all our prayers. God Bless You!!
