My name is Susan Farren and I am a 52 year young, recently single, mother of five wonderful children. Benjamin (21), Bailey (19), Matthew (17), Roman (15), and Michael (13), all living at home, which I love! I am a paramedic and have been working in the field of Emergency Medical Services for over 30 years.
On Easter Sunday this year I experienced symptoms of an internal issue, which prompted me to contact my doctor the following day. Within five days, I had undergone multiple scans and tests resulting in a diagnosis of a tumor on my right kidney, which would require immediate surgery. Having lost my mother to kidney failure when I was only 17 years old, this of course scared the life out of me – no pun intended. I had surgery on April 26, 2016, and after a full week in the hospital am now recovering at home.
God blessed me only five months before all this, with a full-time job at one company. Prior to this, I had been working for several different agencies in order to support our family. The good news is, I didn’t lose my job as a result of all this. The downside is, I will be in recovery until later this summer, which means I will not be receiving a paycheck while I am not working.
Several friends have suggested I use the miracle of Go Fund Me to ask for assistance getting our family through this time. We have been incredibly blessed by friends, family, and even a few folks we met at the hospital who now feel like friends. There are not words to describe how overwhelmingly grateful the kids and I are by your presence in our lives, as well as anything you feel inclined to donate. Your gifts will be used to keep us going until I can return to work.
Thank you first and foremost for your prayers for my speedy and full recovery. God bless you!!
