I do not like asking anyone for money. But right now, I am desperate enough to accept any help being offered. As it stands now, I received a small limit increase with Care Credit that was enough to cover the bills so far. But after a few other recent unplanned big expenditures, my savings account is depleted beyond the vet bills that are continuing to pile up. I am looking at severals things to help me come up with the funds, but none of them would be fast enough or even a guarantee.
What I have learned, is that the treatment she received over 3 visits to Pilchuck wasn't nearly enough for her to recover. We have ruled out Addisons Disease and giardia, and there were no signs of worms from her HD Ultrasound scan of her entire GI Tract. We are waiting for test results to come back for salmon poisoning (the internal medicine specialist currently treating her does not think its that) and Vitamin B12 deficiency. Also waiting for enough poop to run a fecal float, which will identify any parasites that she may have picked up. The last round of bloodwork indicated elevated levels that would be seen with a parasite such as ecoli and others, but all that will be dependent on results from the fecal. Beyond that, we could be looking at a massive histamine reaction to ingesting something she is allergic to, an undiagnosed food allergy, or more problematic GI disorders that would require additional, more invasive, testing. Its a lot of unknown right now, but she is stable. SVS in Kirkland is keeping her for at least 3-4 more days before we persue the more invasive testing if she doesnt show improvement, and if the fecal is negative for parasites.
For anyone who has met Lumi, you cant help but acknowledge that she is something special for an Akita. A giant, friendly fluffball that acts more like a goofy lab than a regal bear hunting guard dog. She truly is my best friend and always at my side. My house feels empty without her, and I haven't lost hope that she will be back with me again.
For anyone who would like to help, any small bit is appreciated. Hug your furbabies every day, and make sure they know they are loved as much as they love you.
