Update Computer Lab at Meiners Oaks
Donation protected
I am a fourth grade teacher and student leadership facilitator at a small school in Ojai, California. I have been at Meiners Oaks Elementary School for the past 12 years and continually strive to make resources available for our student population of 300. We have 67% of our students on free or reduced lunch. Our Meiners Oaks community is one of the most densely populated in the valley. Over the past year we have observed the other elementary schools upgrading their computer labs and classrooms. We have a different population that requires us to be creative to try and provide new and upgraded technology at our campus. With little funds to buy new tools, we would like some assistance with upgrading our computer lab with 35 LG Chromebase 22CV241-W 22 inch all-in-one Cloud desktops, they are $226.00 each. This would support our teaching with google classroom and assist our students to be included in the technology learning method. We want our students to be supported like the other students in the valley. We would need the funds by August 1st, 2016, to replace our old computers and begin our school year with a new chromebase computer lab.
I would be so grateful for this funding and would love to teach our students using new technology as they learn curriculum that will help them grow. As Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook states,"right now there are 500,000 computing jobs open in America alone, but we produce only 50,000 computer science graduates every year. That makes no sense."
I want the Meiners Oaks students to be able to learn computer skills to enhance their lessons in other subjects. I would be thankful to be able to give them the chance to succeed in our ever changing connected world.
We are a greenribbonschool and have won 5 national awards for our environmental education and science.
We have accomplished all this as a team and our principal, Dawn Damianos, is an excellent team leader. This would be such a wonderful support for our programs. #ThankATeacher.
