Surgery for Roo

Hello friends of Roo!

As many of you know from following along the last few days, Roo managed to slip out of the car on Tuesday morning at the corner of South Street and Lafayette Road. The photos of Roo being circulated quickly won us all over with those giant bat-kid ears! Roo’s mom, Kerry, faithfully stood at that intersection holding her leash every moment that she wasn’t actively searching on foot or by car for the full six days that this little girl has been out there.

Today, we got the call that we had been waiting for- some wonderful neighbors had confined Roo in a back yard just about 500 feet from where she had slipped out. She was okay- but injured. She looked so relieved that we found her.

The rest of the afternoon was spent at the emergency vet. Roo has a fractured leg that will require surgery, but she is home tonight resting comfortably until then.

As we all know, the expenses are already stacking up. I’ve started this GoFundMe to take a little of the pressure off of Kerry since I know she has already taken so much time away from work to hold steady in finding her girl. There is no question that Portsmouth is the best community when it comes to lifting each other up- and loving on our pups when they need it! I’m hoping we can rally one more time for Roo and get this sweet girl back to romping on the beach as quickly as possible.
