Hi, my name is Andrew Lenoue. On August 27th I was walking my dog Biscuit in a residential neighborhood near Gonzaga University. Biscuit who is a 5-year-old toy poodle was attacked by a pit bull. The pit bull was being walked by a 12-year-old boy who didn’t have the strength to hold the dog back. A handful of kind strangers went out of their way to help free Biscuit from the pit bull's jaw. The attack went on for several minutes. Biscuit's injuries were life-threatening, his snout was half torn off, and had a big bite out of his left hind leg! My family and I had rushed him to the pet emergency clinic. The clinic stated he needed surgery and the best chance at survival would be taking him to WSU’s vet hospital. Biscuit was in the hospital at Washington State University for 32 days. He had multiple blood/ plasma transfusions, two facial reconstructions of the nasal, removal of fractured left incisive bone, removal of his teeth on the top left side of his mouth, and had MRSA on his bitten leg. Biscuit was unable to use his mouth and had a feeding tube for most of his time at the hospital. I had to borrow money to pay Biscuit's bills expecting the pit bulls owner's insurance to cover the costs. Unfortunately, the owner had no insurance to claim and was unwilling to help with expenses. The hospital bills have been hard to handle as a 24-year-old applying to medical school. Any donations towards Biscuit's medical bills would be greatly appreciated! Thank you to everyone who was involved the day of the accident, I am forever grateful for the aid to save Biscuit's life! The reason Biscuit is still alive today is directly a result of the life-saving care Biscuit received at the Washington State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital.
