Oromo Community for Fort McMurray
Donation protected
Wild fire has engulfed a city of 80,000 people in Northern Alberta, Fort McMurray. All residents are forced to evacuate leaving everything behind. The latest report shows thousands of property including homes are destroyed. Canadians from all corners and all levels are pouring their donation and support, especially through Canadian Red Cross.
We, the Oromo have been absent from the life in Canada because we are overwhelmed by the repression going on in Oromis/Ethiopia. Just look at your own fb timeline and see how much of your story is about Canada. We are absent present in the land we got refuge. That's why Canadians wonder who we are when we rally downtown crying for help .
I believe we have to start to fully engage in Canadian life and play a meaningful role. Volunteering and donating for victims of flood, fire or storm is part of that engagement.
Please donate your part and show your support. Fire doesn't give time. This is emergency that needs your immediate help.
Thank you
