23 y/o Frankie Tragically Paralyzed

On November 30 of this past year Frankie Pena's life was tragically and forever altered after horrifically being struck in the spinal cord by a bullet, accidentally fired by one of his closest friends. As a result of that singular and fateful moment, 23 year old Frankie will never walk again. Ever. He is permanently paralyzed from the waist down. 23 years old. A kid. A wonderful kid...with his entire bright future ahead of him suddenly and horrifically ripped from his chest. I was in the hospital room as a family friend the day he was born and I fight back the tears just writing this message.  I can't even begin to imagine what he and his family are going through. Frankie is a wonderful, caring, warm-hearted person who now suddenly has to both physically and emotionally deal with an unimaginable reality that has tragically befallen him, through no fault of his own. If that weren't enough, he now faces medical treatment and around-the-clock care expenses that are expected to conservatively reach $500,000 per year - and without adequate insurance to pay for even a fraction of that. Yet in the face of all this unspeakable tragedy, Frankie is somehow able to find a way to smile and face his new merciless reality with a courage and strength that is beyond my simple comprehension. I asked Frankie for a picture for this posting showing the tragic reality of his situation, but instead he sent me a picture with a smile on his face, albeit a painfully strained one. Anything you can do to help Frankie to fight this battle that he must wage for the rest of his life would be incomprehensibly meaningful to him and his family, far beyond words - not just for the obvious financial help it would provide, but for the equally important message of heartfelt caring and support that your donation would symbolize - something that he so desperately needs right now to help him feel like he is not alone.
