Help reunite Ravinder (22yo) with his mum in his final days

Donation protected
Ravinder is a 22-year old young adult who came to England on a student visa from India just over two years ago. Like many his family spent huge sums of money in the hope of giving him a better life. Soon after Ravinder’s arrival in England his dad fell ill, and the family’s savings were used towards his treatment. Unfortunately, Ravinder’s dad passed away leaving a widowed mother and son miles apart and unable to grieve together. Ravinder has no family in England and has been supported by a group of friends he met on his plane journey to England.

Around 10 weeks ago Ravinder had been complaining of constipation and his friends recommended he should be seen by a doctor. He was admitted to Sandwell Hospital and was diagnosed with metastatic colorectal cancer (stage 4 colorectal cancer). Since admission 10 weeks ago Ravinder has not been able to leave the hospital and has since moved to University Hospital Birmingham (Queen Elizabeth Hospital) where he started receiving support from the charity Teenage Cancer Trust. His condition has significantly deteriorated since being admitted with the cancer spreading. As a result of the cancer spreading Ravinder has sadly lost vision in his left eye and developed lymph node cancer. All efforts to treat the cancers have been ineffective and the hospital has now stopped the chemotherapy regime. His consultant has since informed his friends that Ravinder only has a few weeks at best to live.

During this time his family in India have been trying to get a visa for his mum so that mother and son are able to embrace in Ravinder’s final days. Regrettably, the visa was rejected by the British Embassy and after appealing to MPs to obtain an emergency medical visa for Ravinder’s mum approval was granted today (Tuesday 18th June).

I do not know Ravinder personally and came across his story after a friend told me about him. I have since been to see Ravinder and it really hit home how precious life is and how cruel it can be at times.

The money raised from this campaign will go towards Ravinder’s mums travel costs, Ravinder’s last rites and if he wishes, his body to be sent back to India. May we join and support Ravinder in his battle and may our thoughts and prayers provide him and his family with strength during this incredibly difficult period. Any donation will be greatly appreciated, and we would be grateful if you could help spread the word about our fundraiser on social media or by reaching out to anyone who might be able to support our cause.
