Bucks for Brody

Brody Michael Chastain was born on December 27th.  He is an adorable, happy and sweet baby.  From birth, he had breathing problems.  He was kept in the hospital longer than normal due to rapid breathing and difficulty eating.  At 7 weeks, he was hopitalized again with RSV.  He was unable to eat well, was not gaining weight and had to have IVs and a multitude of tests.  As a mother, it is so hard to see your child in pain, being stuck with needles over and over.  Brody has seen several doctors and specialists and this week we learned that what is causing his breathing problems and difficulty eating is that he is aspirating - meaning that  when he eats, some of the formula goes to the lungs.  This can cause pneumonia, other breathing problems and in the worst case could cause death.  We are raising money to fund the endless medical bills and contend with the time missed from work.   Shaun and I never imagined the volume of bills we would see when our beautiful boy was born.   We are currently facing a surgery for Brody to correct the issue causing him to aspirate.  We are awaiting the doctor's call at this time. We may have to wait for Brody to be 6 months old for him to have the surgery. If that is the case, He will have an NG tube placed for his feedings until he can have surgery.  I will be posting updates as we journey towards healing. 

We cannot tell you how much it will mean  to our family.  It is not easy to raise 2 children, much less one with medical issues.  We are so blessed to have Brody and his big sister, Bella.  Any help will be greatly appreciated and will be put to a good use.
