13 years ago Grace Wiebe was told she had Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC), a liver disease with no cure other than a transplant. Her prayers to see her 4 children grow into adulthood before this life threatening surgery was required were answered. However, her liver´s condition has continued to deteriorate, and recently, Grace and Randy were told that surgery is now required. Last month, her son Jordan flew to Toronto and after extensive testing it was determined that he is a suitable donor match. Last week, the family was told that the call giving them 48 hours notice of the surgery date in Toronto would likely come this month.
Surgery costs are covered by Medicare, but accommodations close to the hospital for the 4 – 6 week recovery period, costs or lost wages for the post-surgery medical assistants to care for Grace and Jordan, food, and transportation are not. Total additional costs are anticipated to be in excess of $10,000.
Please join us in helping Grace and Randy Wiebe. As well, a special account has been set up at all Access Credit Union branches. Ask for Grace´s Gift.
