Hello Relatives, Friends and Community, My Name is Michael B. Collier, and one of Four Siblings to Grace Simity Allen (nee Collier).
I am starting this fund on behalf of my sister, her husband Bob, and son Milton.
Grace is 58 years old and currently resides with her husband and son, in Sierra Leone, a small Country, located on the West Coast of Africa.
Grace was recently diagnosed with Recto-sigmoid tumor. Subsequently, she underwent surgery in Freetown, Sierra Leone, early February of 2016. The findings demonstrated a malignant rectal mass infiltrating neighboring structures. At this time, the surgeon fashioned a palliative colostomy to offset a blockage the mass had created.
Following this procedure, Grace has being in and out of the hospital with several complications. Consulting further with several disciplines, the family has been told the care she really needs in not available in Sierra Leone.
Grace currently needs further consultation with a Gastroenterologist who will make determination for:
1. Further surgery
2. Chemotherapy, and
3. Radiation therapy
Relatives, Friends, and community, the immediate family has run out of funds! Prior to the surgery, Grace had been in and out of the hospital since August of 2015. The currently financial constraint even started the early part of 2015. Bob and Grace cared for my nephew Bamijoko (their last child), who succumbed to congenital heart failure in May of 2015. He was just 16 years old…May his soul rest in peace. That was and is still hard on all of us.
On their behalf, I am kindly asking for assistance, so Grace can travel abroad from Sierra Leone, for further care. The plan is to start with an initial consultation (as soon as funds permit) with a surgeon at Korle-bu Teaching Hospital in Accra, Republic of Ghana The fund will give Grace an opportunity to access care that is seldom seen by or available to tons, who may have similar needs. All funds will go directly to medical expense of Grace, and other logistics support she, Bob and Milton will incur.
I immigrated to the US, 20 years ago. My ceaseless exultation about a strong sense of community partnership/support exhibited here, and other places alike, around the world, gives me hope that Grace, will get the support. We would like everybody to help us. Anything helps and thanks for your support.
Grace's current state (sorry did not intend to be morbid).
