Hello everyone. My 13 year old son, Christian Vaughn, was the victim of a hit and run in Pacific Grove , CA on Sunday. A man on drugs decided it would be fun to speed down Pine Ave and try to make that Eardley Avenue turn. He missed, and plowed into my son’s bedroom where he was sitting on his bed, playing his new NBA Warriors Basketball Video Game. (I can’t remember the game right now and not that it even matters) The car hit him and knocked him unconscious. He was pinned under the car against the wall. His mattress folded up like an accordion, which people later thought was a dog bed because of how small it looked. I believe his mattress is what saved his life (And Gods grace). The fire fighters had to use a chain saw to cut the wall to remove him. As they were lifting him out, he told the rescue team, “you’re doing a great job” and, “don’t hurt yourself I’m a big boy”. EVERYTHING he owned was destroyed. Including things that can not be replaced. The front of our house is gone. I honestly don’t know what to ask for, but I know anything helps. I am so grateful to my neighbors who jumped to my sons rescue before the fire and police arrived, and to all the rescue people who helped that day and to everyone helping us move forward. I’ll probably edit this page a few times because my mind is still in shock by what happened and how we are now homeless, for the time being. I am truly just grateful my boy is alive and everything else will be what it is. Thank you again for embracing my son and being the village that it takes to raise him. We will always be #PGSTRONG !
