Mendon Upton Outdoor Classroom Initiative
Donation protected
Among all the uncertainty this school year brings, one thing is for sure, teachers and students would benefit from outdoor classrooms. Let's work together and show our support to our school community by raising funds to create outdoor spaces suitable for productive learning.
Funds raised will be evenly distributed to the Mendon Upton School District, Nipmuc, Miscoe, Clough, and Memorial.
Studies have shown that outdoor classrooms are beneficial to the educational process and the development of the whole child. What we build today will benefit the students in the future, as well!
Additional Information:
Through this initiative, we intend to design outdoor learning spaces for all Mendon Upton school facilities. Our vision is for the outdoor spaces to be a supplemental learning environment. It will be an option for class gatherings, weather permitting. The scale of the project hinges on those who donate, both monetarily and through acts of service.
The money raised would first go towards seating and a presentation area for teachers. Beyond these necessities, administration and teaching staff will use the funds to design the space to meet their population's needs.
We do not have the financial means to provide a classroom for every teacher in the district, but we do hope to create as many outdoor classrooms as possible. These spaces are not a bandaid fix to any of the logistical safety challenges of COVID. However, we do hope that when we return to in-person learning, these spaces will play a small part in a happy reentry for the Mendon Upton community.
Thank you to those who have already donated. We look forward to supporting our staff and teachers this fall!
