Katie’s Recovery

My sister, Katie, was in a serious accident Tuesday afternoon while rock climbing with friends in anchorage. She had a very traumatic fall in which she landed on her head. Luckily, Katie was able to stay conscious and stabilize herself while waiting hours for the rescue team to locate her and get a helicopter to transport her safely to the hospital. Katie broke her neck (c-1), her nose, cheekbones, sinuses, a molar, and of course is very beat up-bruised and swollen, but is beyond grateful to be alive! (Katie has full use of all of her limbs!!) We are SO thankful for Katie’s helmet, emergency locator, and Katie being able to stay calm and stabilize herself while waiting for help; these things all helped in saving her life. Katie was discharged from the hospital Friday and is happy to be home but knows she has a long road to recovery ahead of her. We have had several friends and family members reach out, wanting to help. We thought collecting money to help with living expenses and doctors bills would be the easiest way for people to help right now. We would like to take some of Katie’s stress away so she can concentrate on her recovery. Her family thanks you and will keep you posted on her recovery!
